With governments cracking down on internet restrictions, a lot of people in a lot of countries have trouble viewing stuff they'd like to see, and so a program like bVPN for Mac works wonders at hiding an IP address.

Overview of bVPN

There are a lot of solid reasons why you may want to mask your internet address while using the computer. Not only do you have to contend with a lot of tracking cookies and hackers, but every day it seems another state or nation is blocking user access to certain sites and certain materials. The bVPN program for Mac is ideal in times like these where freedoms are being eroded. This is a basic VPN program, which stands for Virtual Private Network, and allows you to use the internet with an alternate IP address. So if you're in Chicago, for example, you can get your IP to the Netherlands somewhere and browse anonymously.

This lightweight program from Mac is small and very simple to use. It was created by bVPN and is available for the Mac and Max OS X systems. Although it can connect you to anywhere in the world, the only language option available for the program is English.

How bVPN Works

Many Mac users have heard of the iElement program, which did essentially the same thing in masking one's IP address. This is basically just the newest edition of that program. As such, bVPN works to hide your IP, though it doesn't do much else, so don't expect a lot from it other than changing your IP. The cool thing about this program is how simple it is to use.

Once you load the program up and it gets past your firewall and recognizes your IP, it's going to display it on screen so you can see what it is. After this point, you can simply connect to a new IP, which is usually European, so you have a lot of security here, being masked by an IP that's thousands of miles away.

bVPN Features

European addresses definitely are not your only option, but that is what the program will give you (from North American) by default. However, when you go looking around, you will see one of the best features is the bVPN Server List, where you can select different US cities, a variety of European cities, and even options for nations like Japan.

The simple blue and white rectangular box is so simplistic that anyone can figure it out, even if they've never heard of a VPN before. It will display your current IP, and then there's a big rectangular green button that says “Connect” on it. Just click your corresponding server and press the button, and give it a few seconds.
